Questions owners ask

What project records do you need?

Records that show how projects actually moved: BIM models, drawings and revisions, RFIs, submittals, change orders, coordination and clash logs, bids and estimates, daily logs and punch lists. You don't need all of them. One well-documented dataset can qualify. The usual bar is 30+ employees, 3+ years of records and a US base, with files in real systems such as project platforms, SharePoint or BIM tools.

Do we give up ownership of our drawings or IP?

No. You license a copy. Your original drawings, models and project files stay in your systems, untouched, and you keep ownership. Before anything is exported, you approve the exact systems and date ranges in writing, and you can leave out any project folder, inbox, tool or period. Nothing leaves until you sign.

How are owners, subs and site staff handled in the data?

Records are de-identified before delivery. Every person, client, company name, address and account number in the agreed copy is replaced with a placeholder or removed. That covers owners, subcontractors, suppliers, project addresses and your own staff. Highly sensitive fields, such as payment details and Social Security numbers, are removed entirely.

How much work is this for our team?

Usually a few hours from whoever administers your project platform, file servers and email. There's no cost to you, and you're never invoiced. The buyer pays Renaissance Data Lab a finder's fee when a deal closes. It doesn't come out of your offer and is disclosed in writing before you sign. Typically, it takes about 60 to 90 days from first call to payment.

Our owner contracts say the drawings belong to the client. Does that rule us out?

That depends on your contracts and obligations, and we don't give legal advice. Check with your own counsel. The buyer's legal team reviews scope with you before any export. Client-owned and confidential material is reviewed during scoping and can be excluded project by project.

Does the eligibility check commit us to anything?

No. The check is free, takes about a minute and creates no obligation. If you qualify, the final offer comes in writing after a review of your actual systems and data volume. Nothing leaves your systems until you sign.
