AI labs are buying lab and research data

Your old research data could be worth $100K to $5M.

AI labs license de-identified research records from established US biotech, pharma and life sciences companies to train models on real lab work. You approve exactly what's included.

The lab and research records AI labs are buying

One well-documented system can qualify. You choose what's included.

Lab notebooks (ELN)

How scientists plan experiments, record results and decide what to try next

ELN, SharePoint, Google Workspace

LIMS records

How samples move through testing, with results, methods and QC flags

LIMS

Assay data, protocols and screening results

Which conditions worked, which didn't, and how protocols were refined

ELN, LIMS, instrument data drives

Synthesis conditions and spectra

How compounds get made, characterized and optimized across many attempts

ELN, analytical instrument software, file shares

Sequencing, perturbation and bioanalysis data

How biological measurements connect to experimental design and interpretation

Sequencing data stores, LIMS, CRO reports

FAQ

Questions owners ask

Still unsure? The estimate is free and commits you to nothing.

What research records do you need?

Records that show how research actually happened: ELN entries, LIMS records, assay data and protocols, screening results, synthesis conditions and spectra, sequencing or perturbation data, bioanalysis reports and discontinued programs. You don't need all of them. One well-documented dataset can qualify. The usual bar is 30+ employees, 3+ years of records and a US base, with data in real systems such as ELN or LIMS.

Do we give up ownership of our data or IP?

No. You license a copy. Your original records stay in your systems, untouched, and you keep ownership. Before anything is exported, you approve the exact systems and date ranges in writing, and you can leave out any program, folder, tool or period. Nothing leaves until you sign.

How are patient, personal and partner details handled?

Patient-level data that links genetic or molecular data to clinical outcomes is excluded. For everything else, records are de-identified before delivery. Every person, client, company name, address and account number in the agreed copy is replaced with a placeholder or removed. Highly sensitive fields, such as payment details and Social Security numbers, are removed entirely.

How much work is this for our team?

Usually a few hours from whoever administers your ELN, LIMS and file systems. There's no cost to you, and you're never invoiced. The buyer pays Renaissance Data Lab a finder's fee when a deal closes. It doesn't come out of your offer and is disclosed in writing before you sign. Typically, it takes about 60 to 90 days from first call to payment.

Our data is covered by sponsor and collaboration agreements. Can we take part?

That depends on your contracts and obligations, and we don't give legal advice. Check with your own counsel. The buyer's legal team reviews scope with you before any export. Data covered by sponsor, collaboration, CRO or licensing agreements is reviewed during scoping and can be excluded.

Does the eligibility check commit us to anything?

No. The check is free, takes about a minute and creates no obligation. If you qualify, the final offer comes in writing after a review of your actual systems and data volume. Nothing leaves your systems until you sign.
